Transportation: How to Purchase Single Tickets in the DSB App

DIS Copenhagen students need to use the DSB app to purchase tickets throughout their semester abroad. Sometimes students will need to travel outside their regular zones, or if living within walking distance buy tickets for DIS activities (field studies, practicum, host network & etc). Learn more about when and why you would need to purchase a single ride ticket on our website here. If you have not yet downloaded the app, go back one step to the post Transportation: How to Get Started in the DSB App before proceeding with this page.

1. Open the DSB app
2. When you begin your journey, check in on the app. Once you arrive at the station or stop, and before you board the bus/train/metro, open the app and select which mode of transportation you will be using.

3. Make sure are invoicing DIS as your method of payment. Note if this is personal travel you can add your own personal credit card to the app.
Swipe the ‘Check in’ button to begin your journey.

4. Once you are checked in, you have your ticket on your phone and ready to show if the ticket inspectors request to see it.

5. If you need to change to a bus, train or metro, remember to report this in the app and update your journey.

6. Once you have reached your final stop, slide the toggle and ‘Check out’ thus ending your trip. Make sure to enable the automatic check out function in case you forget!


Automatic Check Out

You can enable automatic check out when starting using the ‘Check in’ function, or you can turn it on later.

1. Under your ‘Profile,’ then click the settings cog in the upper right hand corner.

2. Select ‘Notifications’

3. Select ‘Set up check out help’

4. Choose the option ‘Automatic check out’

If in doubt about whether this trip is covered by DIS, refer to the table below:

• Getting to and from Study Tours
• Getting to and from external DIS classes
• Getting to and from DIS activities
• Visiting Host program: 4 return visits
• Homestay students: 400 DKK stipend to visit other DIS students in your Homestay Network
• Personal travel (i.e. going to a museum or the airport)
• If you are eligible for extra funds (i.e. Homestay, Visiting Host), then use this option once you have spent your entire stipend

Please note: If you cannot get your credit card into the app for your personal travel, you can always buy a paper ticket at the red kiosks at the station.
